We're excited to announce a new enhancement to the PM Task Editor import process — you can now create or reuse limits simply by entering a value directly in the Limit ID or Description column of your CSV import file.

When you enter a text string in the Limit ID or Description column during import:

  • OnPlan will search existing limits to find a match based on Limit Description.

  • If a match is found, the existing limit will be applied to the preventative task.

  • If no match is found, OnPlan will create a new limit with:

    • Category set to None

    • Limit Name based on your input (up to 30 characters)

    • Description matching the input text

This is a fast and flexible way to assign or create limits without needing to manually enter limit IDs.

Things to Note

  • Limit names are limited to 30 characters. If your entry is longer, it will be truncated.

  • This method is in addition to the existing option of importing limit IDs.

  • If you prefer to link to an existing limit using its ID, you can still do so by populating the Limit ID in the Limit ID or Description column instead.

Example

Task DescriptionLimit ID or Description
Check ValvePressure Limit
Inspect MotorTemp Max 80°C
  • If “Pressure Limit” or “Temp Max 80°C” already exist, OnPlan will link to them.

  • If they don’t, OnPlan will create them as new limits with the category None.
